Amatuli Bench, 1.5 m · Woven seat on blackened timber

A long, low bench with a hand-woven seat in natural fibre, crossed with bold black zigzag stripes that recall the patterns of traditional basketry. The seat sits on a blackened timber frame with slightly splayed, turned legs and double stretchers, giving it a sturdy, grounded stance.

At a metre and a half long, it works at the foot of a bed, along a passage wall or in an entrance hall, where it is useful for pulling on shoes or setting down a bag. It is equally at home as extra seating on one side of a dining table. The contrast of pale weave and dark frame brings pattern and texture without overwhelming a room.

Care
Dust or vacuum the seat gently. Wipe the frame with a damp cloth, and keep out of direct sun and rain.

Every GHAR piece is collected from our store at 30 Impala Road, Chislehurston, Sandton. Most orders are ready within 4 hours, and we will confirm by email the moment yours is.

We are open Monday to Friday. Bring your order confirmation, and if a piece is large, bring a vehicle that fits it. Our team will help you load.

Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, Ozow instant EFT, Apple Pay or Google Pay through our secure checkout. We do not deliver at this stage.

If you need transport for a larger piece, ask us in store and we will point you to couriers our customers have used.

If a piece is not right, return it to the store within 7 days of collection, unused and in its original condition, with proof of purchase. We will refund you to your original payment method.

Most GHAR pieces are one of one and sourced as brand overstock, end of range, ex-display or estate finds. Their condition is described honestly on each product page, and marked wear on ex-display or estate pieces is part of the piece, not a defect. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
