About us

Ghar means home. Not the house — the feeling of walking into a room and letting your shoulders drop.

That's the whole idea. We aren't here to fill a space quickly. We're here for the pieces that make a room somewhere you want to be.

What we do

We find things that already exist. Brand overstock, end-of-range, pieces that never reached a shop floor. Good design that would otherwise sit in a warehouse or quietly be written off.

Then our studio decides what's worth having. Most of it isn't. What survives is here because somebody looked at it properly and thought — yes, that would make a room better.

A house fills up quickly. A home takes longer.

There's usually one of each

We buy what's available rather than what's endlessly produced. Sometimes that's a single rug, sometimes a handful of chairs.

It means you won't walk into a friend's house and find the same one. It also means that if something has caught your eye, it's worth telling us.

What we look for

It has to last — made well enough to still be here in ten years.
It has to sit quietly — nothing that shouts over the rest of the room.
It has to be worth it — priced so it feels like a good decision, not a splurge.

Come and see

Photographs can't tell you how a rug feels underfoot. We're in Fourways, six days a week. No appointment, no rush — come and wander.
